About Frances

I came to yoga over four decades ago, long before I ever thought of teaching. My early path was a winding one. I enjoyed yoga as an art student in Coventry, then kept practicing on my travels in Europe, Asia and Central America. I would pick up yoga and let it go, but I always came back for more.

It wasn’t until mid-life that a bout of anxiety led me to study the Yoga Sutras ~ a classic text. The first chapter was graceful, calming and pragmatic. I was delighted! From there, a steady, moderate yoga practice really took root in my life and I felt better every day.

In 2013, following a welcome redundancy, I leapt at the chance to follow the Whitespace Teacher Training Programme and qualified as a Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher. Since then, my practice has never stopped evolving.

Today, I share ideas from a humanist perspective, influenced by mindfulness, structural mechanics, and the work of Peter Blackaby (a friend and author of Intelligent Yoga).

In my classes at the Quaker Centre in Milton Keynes and the online sanctuary of The Loft, I invite you to practice from a place of curiosity and self-inquiry rather than simply trying to conform to instruction.

I guide practice responsively, by demonstrating, verbal cuing, observing and listening to your own insights. Always with with love, respect and care.

My focus is on helping you listen to your own body, find steadiness and ease in your postures and practice wholly on your own terms.
